Road Safety Audits

A Road Safety Audit (RSA) is the formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent and suitable qualified Road Safety Audit Team. It reports qualitatively on potential road safety issues and identifies opportunities to improve operational safety for all road users with the objective of minimizing the number and severity of personal injury crashes.

There are five key stages of Road Safety Audit:

• Stage 1: Concept Design

• Stage 2: Preliminary Design

• Stage 3: Detailed Design

• Stage 4: Pre-Opening (Post-Construction)

• Stage 5: Road Safety Assessment (Existing Road Network)
